The Cost of Earthing vs Vitamins
There is a notion that vitamin supplements might help lower the toll of some of our most damaging chronic diseases. These high hopes came in part from the observation that vitamin-takers were less likely to develop heart disease. Even at the time, researchers knew the finding might just reflect what’s called the healthy user effect—meaning that vitamin devotees are more likely to exercise, eat right, and resist the temptations of tobacco and other bad habits. But it was also possible that antioxidant vitamins like C, E, and beta-carotene could prevent heart disease by reducing the buildup of artery-clogging plaque. B vitamins were promising, too, because folate, B6, and B12 help break down the amino acid homocysteine—and high levels of homocysteine have been linked to heart disease.
Unfortunately, none of those hopes have panned out.
Reader's Digest tells us an analysis of seven vitamin E trials concluded that it didn’t cut the risk of stroke or of death from heart disease. The study also scrutinized eight beta-carotene studies and determined that, rather than prevent heart disease, those supplements produced a slight increase in the risk of death. Other big studies have shown vitamin C failing to deliver. As for B vitamins, research shows that yes, these do cut homocysteine levels …but no, that doesn’t make a dent in heart danger.
Weigh all this us with grounding.The Earth’s surface contains a limitless number of free electrons that are continually replenished through solar radiation and lightening strikes; your body naturally absorbs these particles when you make physical contact with the ground.
In the body, these electrons have an anti-inflammatory effect because they reduce the free-radical activity that causes inflammation and chronic pain. (If you remember your high school science, electrons are negatively charged. Inflammation-causing free radicals are positively charged, which means the additional free electrons neutralize the free radicals.) The energy of the free electrons also helps keep your body’s innate electrical circuitry properly balanced. All of these effects are extremely beneficial to heart health.
Without a regular connection to the Earth, people can develop what is called an electron deficiency. In turn, this can lead to imbalances in the body and potentially to significant health problems. For example, chronic inflammation—which is increasingly being identified as the cause of many chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders. Notice here that vitamins above are not needed when you earth yourself. The electrons from the earth neutralize free radicals.
In a nutshell, earthing is far more effective as a disease deterrent, as well as economical as far as cash is concerned. If you were to consume, say 3 supplements a day for a month, the yearly cost would be around $600. Weigh that against the once off cost of an earthing mat of $60 or an earthing sheet $230, earthing is only one third the cost.

Blood Thinning with Earthing
My girlfriend in Melbourne and my father in law have both started earthing at night. Both of them told me after a day or two that they were burning hot at night. My father in law even pulled out the plug thinking it would cool him down (like an electric blanket).
However, I feel the answer lies with the blood which has become thinner. As we age, our blood cells become sticky and clump together rather than circulating separately. Contact with the Earth appears to create warmth in the extremities and body as a result of better circulation and relaxation. There is a study where blood was taken from several people by a Cardiologist who was studying the effects of earthing on the heart. After only 40 minutes of earthing, the "ketchup" sticky blood in all subjects was changed to almost a "red wine" consistency. Photos were taken of the results which I show below.

Earthing knocks down Inflammation
The Earthing book focuses a good deal on inflammation. In it, they suggest that the ground beneath our feet is the “original anti-Inflammatory.” In other words, the biggest anti-inflammatory on the planet is, well, the surface of the planet itself. If proven true, that’s a pretty neat design-by-nature. In the book, they make a strong argument about how contact with the Earth, either by being barefoot outside or sleeping or sitting on Earthing products indoors, quenches inflammation by allowing the Earth’s infinite supply of negatively-charged electrons to rise up into the body and snuff out the hitmen of chronic inflammation, the free radicals. The theory of the Earth as an anti-inflammatory had never been mentioned before in research. It is still just a theory but what else explains the way that Earthing knocks down inflammation?
I have just returned from Melbourne where I took my 95 year old father-in-law an earthing sheet. Col has suffered from arthritis all over his body for over 30 years. 2 years ago he fell and broke his back which was mended with a plate and screws. I went to see him again the morning after placing the earthing sheet on his bed, and he told me he had NO arthritis pain! He went on to assure me that NOTHING was going to take away his injury pain, but blow me down, the following day he told me the injury pain was greatly diminished as well! I feel so blessed to be able to help him with his pain control and I believe he will be soon knocking those meds off as well! Here he is - one happy chappy!

Earthing - the Most Important Health Discovery Ever!
I really do believe is one of the greatest health discoveries ever – at least in the past 100 years! This health discovery is called “Earthing”, developed by Clint Ober in 1998. Earthing is a way of bringing the healing effects of being barefoot on the earth, indoors.
This explains to me why I always feel so good when paddling barefoot on the beach when on holidays, and why gardening has such a calming effect on me. In the past, if I had a headache, I would take pills and lie down, which had no effect, so I would get up and wander around the garden watering, and the headache would lift! I never understood this phenomenon until now.
The electrical contact between your body and the earth (termed earthing or grounding) -- forms a connection for the flow of energy from the earth to your body and conscious mind. This action allows a flow of free electrons from the earth into your body. It seems that shoes are our own worst enemy, as rubber soles insulate us from the earth and positive electrons that are in our 21st century homes build up and cause all kinds of negative effects on our bodies. The worst of this effects is INFLAMMATION! Just talk to anyone these days about health issues, and you get sense that inflammation effects just about everybody! If you were to go outside on the lawn barefoot for ten or twenty minutes when inflammation attacks, you will sense a clear effect on your pain, mood and stress levels. As a “creationist”, I am reminded that we were formed from the dust of the earth, so it makes sense to me that the earth should have a positive effect on my body in some way. Note: Did you know that all 19 minerals found in our body are also the 19 minerals that are found in the earth? (that’s for free).
My first impression of this information was not good, however, because I have some memories of “the New Agers” hugging trees and “feeling the energy, dude!” from Mother Earth! But it seems now I have looked at it, that these guys may have had something we (and they) didn’t fully understand, because science and technology has proved it to have some credence!
Now, back to Clint Ober. The earthing institute documents the scientific validation which began with Clint Ober's initial question in 1998 of whether direct connection with the Earth could have an impact on health and whether separation from the Earth―such as by wearing insulative shoes―could contribute to unwellness.
The research that followed has produced fascinating evidence demonstrating that Earthing generates a powerful and positive shift in the electrical state of the body and restores natural self-healing and self-regulating mechanisms.
We know that Earthing allows a transfer of electrons (the Earth’s natural, subtle energy) into the body. We know that inflammation is caused by free radicals and that free radicals are neutralized with electrons from any source. Electrons are the source of the neutralizing power of antioxidants.
In the Earthing studies, as well as the feedback from thousands of individuals who have grounded themselves, there is consistent evidence of people whose pain was reduced. Such reduction of pain is evidence that inflammation is reduced. I, myself experienced a very swift elimination in pain in a part of my body when I earthed myself within 1 week!
